(Via Fader)
Foals‘ Total Life Forever sounds like a wildly personal record. Sadness pulled from way down and blown out so wide that it still sounds distant. A lot of that is due to the cavernous sound of the record, vocals sound warm, encased in blankets, there’s a subtle wall of reverb surrounding everything. It’s a soft sadness, so much so that having “Spanish Sahara” soundtrack a promo clip for the next season of Entourage made the whole thing seem sad, even though it was just a bunch of rich dudes standing around on a nice cliff. Sub Pop is streaming Total Life Forever for the next week, and it is well worth your time.
